Voyager 1 Nasa Mission To Jupiter And Saturn 1977
Voyager 1's Approach to Jupiter in Stunning Time-Lapse Video
NASA's Epic Mission to Explore the Outer Planets
A Six-Decade Journey Captured in One Minute
NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Southern California led the extraordinary mission of the Voyager spacecraft. Launched in the summer of 1977, the twin spacecraft Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 embarked on a journey to explore the outer reaches of our solar system.
This time-lapse video, spanning over 60 Jupiter days, showcases Voyager 1's thrilling approach to the gas giant. Voyagers' cameras captured stunning footage of Jupiter's iconic Great Red Spot, its swirling cloud bands, and numerous moons.
After a successful launch from Florida on September 5, 1977, Voyager 1 turned its cameras back toward Earth. The spacecraft was only two weeks into its journey, and the resulting image, known as the "Pale Blue Dot," became an iconic representation of our planet's fragility and insignificance in the vastness of space.
