Early Life and Career
James Brien Comey (born December 14, 1960) is an American lawyer who served as the seventh Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) from 2013 to 2017. Prior to his appointment as FBI Director, Comey served as the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York.
FBI Director
As FBI Director, Comey oversaw numerous high-profile investigations, including the investigation into the use of a private email server by Hillary Clinton during her tenure as Secretary of State. Comey's handling of the Clinton email investigation drew significant scrutiny and controversy.
In May 2017, Comey was fired by President Donald Trump following Comey's testimony before Congress about the FBI's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.
Post-FBI Career
Since leaving the FBI, Comey has written a book titled "A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership" and has been a vocal critic of President Trump.
