Los Angeles and Southern California have experienced a surge in seismic activity in recent days, with a total of 4 earthquakes of magnitude 5.0 or greater in the past 24 hours, 48 earthquakes in the past 7 days, and 205 earthquakes in the past 30 days.
Recent Major Earthquakes
On Monday, a magnitude 4.9 earthquake struck the Mojave Desert, sending shaking that was felt as far away as Los Angeles. This was followed by another magnitude 4.9 earthquake in Southern California on the same day.
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) has recorded a total of 4 earthquakes with magnitudes between 5.0 and 5.9 in Southern California since July 26th, 2024.
